The Desert Ski Club has had such a fantastic time skiing at Solitude/Brighton in the past that we’ve decided we need to go back! Solitude and Brighton ski resorts sit in Utah’s Big Cottonwood Canyon where the snow powder is world renowned. Each resort receives over 500” of annual snowfall that is traditionally light, fluffy, and dry which makes it a paradise for skiers and riders. Both resorts are located at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon and directly in the path of Utah’s snow-bearing winter storms, so they get the very best of the “greatest snow on earth” and lots of it!
Solitude offers 65 runs and three bowls spread beautifully over 1,200+ acres with a 2,047' vertical drop. The resort features wide open powder bowls, gladed tree runs, steep chutes and gentle cruisers. Brighton is located adjacent to Solitude and is Utah's only resort that can boast 100% of its terrain is accessible by high-speed quads. Those quads service 1,050 acres and 1,875 vertical feet of incredible Utah skiing.
Lodging for the trip will be at the “Inn at Solitude”, a luxurious, full-service ski-in/ski-out hotel nestled in the heart of Solitude Village at the base of the mountain. The ski-in/ski-out access means that world-class ski terrain will be waiting right outside your door every morning! Each room is equipped with a refrigerator, free wi-fi and a flat-screen tv. Guests also enjoy a full-service spa, heated outdoor pool and hot tub, and dining at St. Bernard's, the finest dining in the village. Single supplement available for those who want their own room.
The price of the trip starts at $1,570 with senior (65+) lift tickets, $1,580 with adult lift tickets, and $1,295 with an Ikon Pass. The price includes round-trip airfare between Pasco and Salt Lake City, bus transfers between Salt Lake City and Solitude (with a stop at the grocery and liquor stores), 3 days of skiing, 4 nights lodging, a DSC happy hour get-together with appetizers, and a DSC dinner party, including a get-together with the folks on the other Cottonwood Candy trip to trade yard sale stories! The skiing part of the trip includes a 2-day lift ticket for Solitude and a 1-day lift ticket for Brighton (direct shuttle bus transportation to Brighton is available right outside the Inn). A 4th day of skiing at Solitude is also available as an option. The Ikon Pass price excludes lift tickets.
Due to air transport constraints space on this trip is limited to 11 people. If you are interested in arranging for your own transportation to Solitude, contact the Trip Leader.
